Does anyone know of a way to start and stop performances in real time with a keyboard (midi note info)?

am a guitarist using a Roland PK-5 midi bass pedal keyboard to run arpeggios live, and it would be great to assign some short performances or patterns to some midi notes and trigger them from the pedals.
