I’m getting a volume difference when I switch a part
from assign output 1 and 2 to the Main L&R output.

This is rather detailed to explain but here it goes:

I mixed all my midi songs using this config:

- part 2 and part 10 outputs are assigned to output 1 and 2
- All other parts are set for Main L&R

This works well for me because part 2 is bass and
part 10 is drums. This gives me nice control over the
rythmn section when I need it.

But now I’m recording all the parts using the digital output
and apparently anything set to assign 1 and 2 aren’t included in the digital output. ?
No problem right, temporarily change the output assignments
for part 2 and part 10 to Main L&R.
Ok I did that and now I can digitally record all the parts at once.
But when playing back the recording I notice the drums
and bass are louder then the pianos and orgrans. This
is not how I mixed them.

Somehow the volume of assign 1 and 2 must of been lower then the main L&R outputs.

What I really want to do is
digitally record all the parts without
changing the output assignments.

But is this possible?

Re: recording using the Motif digital output

There are several reasons why the signal is different when routed through the assignable outputs from the main outputs

1) They have their own settable output level. Found in UTILITY > OUTPUT
2) The main L&R outputs go through the SYSTEM EFFETS and the MASTER EQ, the Assignable Outputs do not
3) The analog main L&R Output is affected by the main volume knob (in addition to the Master Volume and the individual PART Volume parameter), the Assignable Outputs are not. The Assignable Outputs are only affected by the PART Volume setting.
The digital main L&R Output is affected by the overall VOLUME parameter (MASTER VOLUME) found in UTILITY > GENERAL

Re: recording using the Motif digital output

Thanks for the info.

I recorded some more yesterday through the digital coaxial
connection and reduced the volume of the drums and bass
by about 4% on each song. This seems to match the
mixes that I had done with the drums and bass on
assign 1 and 2.
The only problem is I’m gonna be making mp3’s of about 100 songs and will need to adjust all of them.
