I bought off-brand memory made by Wintec for my XS, and it has worked out great for several weeks now. I’ve loaded in lots of samples, and had 0 problems.

I purchased two of these:

WINTEC AMPO 512MB 168-Pin SDRAM PC 133 Desktop Memory - Retail

Totoal cost for both modules plus shipping in the US was about $105. That is a spectacular price for a gig.

Memory does not wear out, so it works or not.

I’ve heard about piano samples of 600Mb alone.

I would surely buy my memory from Keyfax, in order to support them, but the shipping + import duties to Portugal would make the final price very silly, so I’ll try to buy locally or within the E.U.. Can someone tell me the TECHNICAL DETAILS of the Ram I should be looking for? Does any matching pair of 512 MB Ram sticks do the work? Or has to be specific ones? ECC or non ECC? 168 Pin or other forms? 133, 233, 533 Mhz or other? What’s the fastest spec? Please help.

No ECC that’s for highend servers,
no higher speed than 133: waste of money,
168 pins DIMM.

Ane be careful not to buy ram with 19 chips or more… get the 16 chip version.

Of course the ram must be 168 pin , cause the slot they made for that size . pc 133 run a little faster than 100 and must be a pair but no need same mb , Same company made is the best . I save money by using the ram from very old computer not in use , i plug in 256mb (pc100) and 128mb(pc100) . Totally i have 424mb for a pair and it work well .
