Ok- I am not sure how many GURU’s we have here and what level of questions I can ask, so if you have no idea- take it as venting and just feel for me. lol

Re: Anybody getting funny clicking with synchronizatio Just an observation… because I don’t know why you need some of the gear you talk about… but if a synth is under MIDI clock it usually does not show a TEMPO at all… For example, when a Yamaha synth is set to external clock (say MIDI clock) the TEMPO setting would be replaced with the word MIDI (not a value in Beats Per Minute). |

Usually, it’s best to simplify the problem. That means getting things working with a simple setup, and then adding or changing one thing at a time. This way you can figure out what’s failing.

Re: Anybody getting funny clicking with synchronizatio
Thank you for your replies. Mad_Mister, In Roland JV 2080 when you set system tempo to “external” it will show what tempo comming In. Like if Internal tempo is 150, when you switch to External, it will show, “System clock: external (140)” I check my clocks by the device, because it is the only way to *SEE* that “midi clock”. When it runs in to loop or what ever it is going on with it, it shows “external (250) while Sonar runs at 140.

Re: Anybody getting funny clicking with synchronizatio
Not really a Yamaha problem here (hmmm) If you are certain it is a clock issue, then you should try and disable every clock connected to your Time Piece - for example, if you had any Yamaha modules or keyboards connected you would disable the clock

Re: Anybody getting funny clicking with synchronizatio
Bad_Mister, that is very good thought, and thank you very much. I have good news- well- partial. I got it working. I was thinking- some of modules/keyboards may send clocks, but I have “most of them” off when working on setup issues. My Yam QS300 can be set to MIDI- I thought- it will desable sending Clocks.

Re: Anybody getting funny clicking with synchronizatio
I don’t understand this statement - what are you considering a “channel"… do you mean MIDI channel.. There is never ever any need to send clock on every MIDI channel… simply send clock on the PORT that is feeding the device you want to control. For example, the Motif only occupies a single PORT - if you want it to follow the clock send it on that PORT… all its MIDI channels will follow the same clock in. It is not like channel 4 would ignore the rest of the PARTS…

Re: Anybody getting funny clicking with synchronizatio I am sorry- you are right- I meant- ports. It is strange that I send clocks only to One port and other 7 are not checked but still receive clocks. And yes, I thought so too- about wanting to go 280. Still confusing why I only send to one port and getting on ALL ports- as i said- it is not Port 0- All that I am sending. The midi notes go in to right port- not to All ports- that would be disaster. But clock goes to All ports when only one checked. And… Sonar still freezes when press “play” on “External”. I would think- it is waiting for clocks to be sent from other device, but it is not- it actually freezes- I can’t even close it. Now- logic freezes when it set to Internal- it never happened when I was on Win 98 system. I moved it to XP (another computer) and thats when it started. When Logic freezes- I can not even close it with “Task manager- I have to cut power Off on computer- over and over again, counting that I have 10 songs needed to be Mixed/mastered. |
