i’m about to buy a motif es rack, and i’m thinking of upgrading my radium 49 while i’m at it. i’m looking for something with a more realistic piano feel (weighted/balanced keys).... it could be smaller than 88 keys, but i don’t know if they make weighted controllers smaller than that

I use the CF8, I was happy to start with (when I was a beginner), but now I realise that it’s pretty crappy.

Rather then a P140 which lacks controller you might consider a CP33. I’ve got one to control the ES-Rack, and furthermore you get some great piano sounds with all that special effects you cannot find on the ES-R itself.

Re: any favorite 88 key weighted controllers?? I’m happy as a clam using my Yamaha P200 as a controller for my Motif ES rack unit. I love the feel of the keyboard - and find that the P200’s layout very easy to use in terms of controlling the Motif. It ain’t bad having the P200’s very usable piano sounds available in their own right - and using the Motif as another set of layered sounds. The “one button” MIDI on/off feature is a big help in that respect. I use it strictly as a “live” keyboard rig and simply love it. |

Re: any favorite 88 key weighted controllers?? They do - Studiologic VMK-176 or VMK-161 Plus. If you can afford it, why not a Kurzweil PC1SE - or get yourself a used Ensoniq TS-12 or ZR-76; Fatar weighted 76 keys & decent MIDI controls (forget the sounds). |
