Does anyone have a Cakewalk Instrument Definition File (.ins file) for the new Motif-Rack?

Thanks.

How do you use these?  I just got SONAR 2 XL, and is this simply a file that allows you to name the MIDI tracks the same thing as Motif patches?  Or, does it allow you select the patch remotely from SONAR?

Re: Cakewalk .ins file for Motif-Rack?

Look in Sonar Help “Instrument Definition Tutorial”.

An Instrument definition file (.ins file), allows you to select banks and programs remotely from within Sonar.  The .ins file has a listing of all banks and patches.  The “naming” of a midi track in Sonar is entirely different - you have to do that manually.

When you create a Sonar midi track, you specify its ‘Output” (where you want that midi data to go to generate real sound). If you install the .ins file, you will be able to select motif sounds from within that midi track.

Sonar (just like most midi programs) takes advantage of the official midi specification “Bank Change” and “Program Select” midi messages. This is what Sonar is actually sending to the Motif-rack.

Are these Ins files messed up by User Kits…
