Re: ADMIN - Forum Problems
OK. I’ve figured out *half* of one of my problems. I noticed that when I’m not logged in, I don’t see the multiple entries (separate links for EVERY REPLY to every post). I logged back in, and edited my profile to see if there was a setting where I could turn this off. There is mention of a “flat mode” in the setting titled “Total posts to show on one page when viewing a post in flat mode (default is 10)”. However, I can’t find where to turn off this “flat mode” (assuming that this is what’s causing the problem). “Flat mode” isn’t mentioned in the “Forum FAQ”, either. Help!

Re: ADMIN - Forum Problems Yes, you are correct, If you don’t login it look fine but login in and it’s a mess. There are some problems. This is one of many times I’m glad it’s not one of my servers. Brian |

Re: ADMIN - Forum Problems I hear you! I don’t have a problem with someone making a buck off a good product or service, though. The problem comes in when someone sells you a product, and then doesn’t want to support it… and yet they expect you to “fly their flag” from now until the end of time, providing them with free advertising. |

Re: ADMIN - Forum Problems
Oooooh wait… I just noticed that you have 8 posts now, Brian, and so you’re a ripe old “Guru”! Me, I’m a “Newcomer” with “only” 4 posts! He he! ;)

Re: Titles
Ha! Thanks, though WRT the Motif, “newcomer” is probably still appropriate! Hopefully not for long, though. Just got done with a 48 hour stint with only 4 hours sleep… most of 2002 has been that way, taking away from the *important* things like family and music.

Re: Titles
Yes, the repetitive listing of forum topics is now gone, and everything seems to appear as it should. However, I still have to compose my posts in a separate editor, then paste into the “Post” box. Again, every time I either click in the “Post” box, or type a single keystroke in the “Post” box, I get an error dialog as follows:

Re: Titles
Quite honestly, I simply haven’t had the time to actually run through the debugger. Also, I’m not certain that I’d find the problem even if I did… While I’m not familiar with this *particular* version of Infopop’s forum software, I *do* use UBB 6.x at EX5Tech, and all the “html” that an end user’s browser displays is created on the fly by UBB’s Perl based CGI scripts. So, even if I carefully debugged to find the html causing the problem, *you* probably couldn’t do anything with that, since the html itself doesn’t actually exist in the forum software - it’s all created by PHP scripts if I recall. Hope I worded that such that it makes sense.

Re: Another user with forum problems.
Look in the MoLounge forum for a topic called “Waiting for new technology”. From his description, it looks like mobro “Synestro2001” may also be experiencing the same problems. Link below:

Re: Another user with forum problems.
When I reply to this post in the lower left hand corner of I.E.6 you get a “Error on page” when I click it this is the error that it shows. I can still reply and I do not get the same problem as SKI. I don’t know if this would help but here is the info. Where it says Cat= is actually the start of one line it is just wrapping here. Brian

Re: Another user with forum problems. I’m having the same problem as SKI with having to compose in text and then paste into here. I’m doing it right now! :) Can you please get this fixed? |
