Hey aussies,

how come we get our own special forum anyway?

I got a motif es rack last week. just trying to get my head around it. The manual’s great except when it comes to the Studio Manager software and the Multi Editor in that. Information is pretty lacking.

Can anyone tell me why the pitch detunes when i change the volume slider for a part in the multi editor?

it is weird.

anyone else on this learning curve?

cheers
D

Re: Motif Rack ES software

Welcome aboard. I suppose we get our own forum so we can use spelling like ‘colour’ and ‘favour’ and say stuff like “Phaaaaark!”.

I see you found your way to the ES Rack forum which is the better bet for your question.

I suppose this section is a ‘Bitsa’ or Lounge type forum so locals can touch base, though there doesn’t seem to have been too many of us so far.

Re: Motif Rack ES software

sweeeeet

we need a topic called backyard BBQ or something like that so we can all pretend to drink beer together.

so are you guys home studio music makers or pro studio or other? im in the former category myself. In Brisbane.

gear lists and other introductory topics are probably in order if you guys are up for that kind of thing? (you go first) /forums/images/icons/smile.gif alt=

Re: Motif Rack ES software

im in a 4 piece electro-grunge band. disclosing personal information in web forums is not without it’s hazards but what the hell, this place is pretty safe: our web site . we’ve released two CD’s and our third will almost certainly feature my new motifES rack pretty heavily.

Im the more technology oriented member of the group. I’ve got a uni background in internet/multimedia and computer science type stuff. Im no audio engineering expert but ive been on that learning curve for a number of years and am gradually picking up stuff. I am still finding the ES rack learning curve extremely steep though! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif alt=

Re: Motif Rack ES software

Yes its made of the most intense RED in the visual spectrum i think. if you look at it for a while your eyes go really weird when you look at other stuff on your screen.

miden im trying to avoid typing identifying information because damn google picks these things up and before you know it our geek discussion about synths will be top of the search results when people google anything on us. Being in a band is very much the art of reputation management, sad but true. But click the link. Its safe. theres no porn or anything offensive.

Hooray the aussie forum. so lets get geek - Are you guys Motif/ES users? What have you got? What are you doing with it?

Im practically obsessed with my new ES Rack. I’m on it every night till midnight staring into its little yellow/green screen trying to crack the code. I have synth puzzle-solving dreams and wake up thinking about it.

scary.

Re: Motif Rack ES software

I’m in Albury (yawn). Not doing anything music-wise other than looking at the PC, Motif ES6, Virus C and a a couple of ‘real’ instruments and regularly thinking: “I should put all this stuff in one room and connect it all together...”

I’ve been up in Brisbane a couple of times in the last two or three years (my sister lives on the Redcliff Peninsula). Next time I’m up that way I’ll have to try to catch a ‘Horsebun’ (to keep keeping you off Google) gig.

Whare are you at Miden? ‘Fess up....

Jordzen is in Melbourne as stated and has an S90 with a couple of top-notch PLG boards, which covers most of the East Coast between us so far.

I’ll have to cut this short so I can go and see the Wallace And Grommit movie.

cool, tho that can’t be 2 good for ya....

Yes, I use the S90, and live in smelbourne, as Wayne pointed out. I got a really good deal on some Drum/Perc PLG boards from some friendly outback ozzie /forums/images/icons/wink.gif alt= unfortunately i havent used them much at all....I’m glad i didn’t buy them new, i can tell you that much

Into studio production creating jazz/chill-out funky/electronic vibes and songs. btw, had one tune played on Triple J Home & Hosed back in July called “Our way of Life” (attached the mp3) <--- - starring vocal talent of Tony Blair , Bush and Co.  /forums/images/icons/smirk.gif alt= J.

Re: Motif Rack ES software

Sounds like I’m the odd one out. I’m still considering Newcastle as a move. Then the whole coast will be just about covered.

Hey Jordan, you should put a link in your sig for the other songs you posted elsewhere (Soundclick?). There’s some good work there.
I’m thinking I might have kept the Percussion PLG after all. Let me know if you want a refund.

cool. The drummer in my band just finished an album in that kind of genre. Its pretty amazing. Kind of Cinematic Orchestra influences. He is friends with the Soma Rasa guys (break beat hip hop brisbane band, JJJ faves) and they run a label that releases beatsy stuff. Apparently they are thinking about setting up an arm of their label to release music with an “aggressive lounge” flavour, including releasing Ommy’s (the drummer) stuff and more like it. Have you released stuff Jordan? I could pass their details on to you if you like?

And hey… what does an S90 do?

Re: Motif Rack ES software

sounds v cool - but pls xcuse me, i didnt mean to divert everyones attention towards myself at this virtual ozzie bbq!

first things first - the S90 is a mighty fine hammer-action, 8-octave, keyboard, a version of the Motif (like the Motif 8), minus the sequencer and sampler - http://www.sninety.com/about/s90.php
i use this bcoz i’m mainly a piano player

Wayne - i’ll let u know about the Perc PLG board! thanks 4 y comments, but im really over that stuff… even tried to delete the links but i cant anymore, lol! However i’ve been slowly putting 2gether a temporary website (its nothing flash & psychedelic sorry!) but it has music of mine that I am more into if u are interested: http://www.jordzen.com/Music.html and click on Orbital Dingo - (best viewed in firefox, for some reason IE forces u to save the mp3 to disk b4 playing it)

denorm, i haven’t actually tried releasing anything yet commercially, but intending to. So far Ive been composing and recording non-stop working on ‘my sound’, and other than a few tracks played on radio (some on 4ZzZ, in Brissie, too) thats it. So, yeah, wld b really stoked if you want to pass my details on to those guys. I really dig Cinematic Orchestra.

when you said “aggressive lounge” i thought hmm maybe i should mention a track of mine, which, other than the title ("Red Lounge") i’m not sure if it even fits the description of agressive lounge lol! but anyway… if u dig the piano jazz/funk, attached is anotha mp3 <--- EDIT: check it out at the link provided abuv!

cheers, J. /forums/images/icons/smirk.gif alt=
