Re: Features I’d like to see in next workstation #

Hi Dmitry,
For some sound clips from the SY99 in Real Audio, go to http://www.bjoren.com/sy99soft.htm , scroll down to SY99 demo songs and click on the RA Live Stream links to hear them. These demo songs were done entirely on the SY99 in 1991.

Yep, I see the error too. It seems like the content has been deleted by hosting service, although the domain name is still active. http://www.whois.net/whois.cgi2?d=bjoren.com

Re: Features I’d like to see in next workstation #

Interesting, two days ago someone posted this link for me on the yamahaforumsUK site, I clicked on the link, went right to the page and loaded up a Real Audio file. Post the link here and it now is gone. I’ll try to find another link that works. OK, now I see the problem, my error in typing the link, it should be http://www.bjoern.com/sy99soft.htm .

Re: Features I’d like to see in next workstation

I’ve listened to the clips and I think they sound very alike to the S80, http://yamahasynth.com/products/s80/

Yes, Chick Korea demo offers a nice “Wow!” factor but soundwise I didn’t hear anything that’s not possible to reproduce on the S-series and Motif/ES. Maybe this can be attributed to the low bitrate and thus lack of fine details…

Re: Features I’d like to see in next workstation

My main originals band, Moonlife (http://www.moonlife.com) uses the SY-77 extensively in the studio (but not on the road). Unfortunately, I don’t have notes with me at the moment to identify for you which sounds came from the SY-77 vs. other keyboards. And we’re using it even more on the new album, but we haven’t posted any pre-mastered teasers yet :-). I am not the owner of the SY-77; my main collaborator (and originator of the project) is. He says it’s the one synth he could never give up or replace.

Hi Mark,
I’ve been using the SY77 as my master keyboard since 1989 and it works well for me on all of my projects. I have to agree with your collaborator, I could not do without my SY77. A few weeks ago I picked up an SY99 to go along with it, the 99 has sample ram (77 does not) and better effects than the 77.

I’d like to see someone come up with an 88 key workstation that you can turn the balanced hammer-action on and off!

Ah yes! Perhaps with torsion bars and a torque wrench included for making quick adjustments.

The outer case might need to be a monocoque construction so it doesn’t twist in the opposite direction.

Sounds a little impractical.... How about a solenoid under each key? /forums/images/icons/wink.gif alt=
