Does anyone have any suggestions on what kind of mic would be the best to use with my VH-100. I believe a decent cable would help improve the performance as well. I think I mistakingly purchased a stereo cable when I should have gotten a mono cable xlr to 1/4inch. I’m leaning towards using a Beta 58 with the mono cable.

Any recommendations will be considered. I’m looking for the most practical and best quality sound.

The 58 or or the beta 58 seem like a good(and practical) choice especially if you are gonna do some live gigs.They have a proven sound and above all they are road worthy.If you are more into studio work, using a condenser could give you a better result(but you’ll also need a preamp with phantom power).But in any case use the best cable you can get. :-D
