I would like to use a foot controller on part #2 of a certain mega voice for volume.  Does anyone know how to assign volume just to part #2.

Thank You

Re: Mega Voices - Assigning volume

Voices do not have “parts”, I am sure you mean Element 2…
This is pretty much explained in the article on Working with and Understanding Physical Controllers in the Behind the Manual section. It gives an example of how you can assign Foot Controller to Element Level (ELM-Lvl) within a Voice.

Re: Mega Voices - Assigning volume

Thanks Bad Mister.  I’ll read it and try to work it out.  I’m trying to play piano on slider #1 and bring in strings on slider #2 without using my hands.  Hopefully what you sent me will do this!  Thanks again.

Re: Mega Voices - Assigning volume

What are you calling a Mega Voice?

There are Guitar Mega Voices, Bass Mega Voices?

Do you mean Performance? If you do, then PART is the correct word. And the article will go over how to control a Voice by assigning a foot controller, as well.

Take the time to really get into the language of the ES, it makes communication so much easier once you do.

If you get stuck post back - but try and tell us what mode your in and what sounds you are using, etc.

Bad Mister

You are right.  I would like to build my own performance.  On part #1 will be piano, part #2 will be horns, part #3 will be strings and parts #4 will be a drum pattern.  I would like to be able to assign parts #2 and #3 to different foot controllers to bring in and out as needed.

Thank You

Re: Mega Voices - Assigning volume

YOu would need two FC7 sweep foot pedals.

If you need to adjust the sound of each Part, independently, you would have to program at the Voice level. Create a custom Horn voice where the volume responds to, say, cc004 (Foot Control) using FC2 and create a custom String voice that responds to a different controller, to FC1 sending say cc012 (an unused controller number). This would allow you control each individually if that is what you need. So simply Bias the volume of each Voice in Voice mode to the controller, make sure the other Voice is not assigned to do anything with the controller and you’re in.

To set the Brass Voice so it responds to Foot control (cc004): Press [EDIT]
Press [COMMON]
Press [F4] CONTROL SET should look like this:

Element Switch (----)
SOURCE = FC2(04)
DEST = VOLUME
DEPTH = +63
would be full control

Then press [F2] OUTPUT and set the VOLUME to 0
[STORE] the Voice

To set the String Voice so it responds to another Foot control:
Press [EDIT]
Press COMMON
Press [F4] CONTROL SET should look like this:

Element Switch (----)
SOURCE = FC1(11)
DEST = VOLUME
DEPTH = +63
would be full control

Then press [F2] OUTPUT and set the VOLUME to 0
[STORE] the Voice

Now when you create your PERFORMANCE use these two User Voices in your Performance
Set the Controllers to send as follows (Controllers can be setup independently for each Performance) as necessary:
Press [EDIT]
Press [COMMON]
Press [F4] Ctl Asn
set FC1 = cc012* this will address your string Voice.
set FC2 = cc004

Now you will have an FC7 pedal to control the Brass and an FC7 pedal to control the Strings

Re: Mega Voices - Assigning volume

Hey Bad Mister

I got home from work tonight and tried to do what you sent me.  When I press EDIT and then COMMON, I do not get the setting that you describe.

You describe:

Element Switch (----)
SOURCE = FC2(04)
DEST = VOLUME
DEPTH = +63 would be full control

Instead I get (when I push the common button):

PERF E Common USER: (Name of Performance)
BC 04[FootCtrl] AS1 16[ ]
RB 04[FootCtrl] AS2 16[ ]
RB Mode reset FC1 11[ ]
FC2 04[ ]

General | Out/Mef | Arp | CTL ASN | Audio In | Effect

I can not get to the screen you are telling me about.  Sorry to bother you, but I wanted to let you know.

Thank You

“If you need to adjust the sound of each Part, independently, you would have to program at the Voice level.”

You have to make two new USER VOICES, then place those User Voices into your Performance. So find the Brass sound you want to use and Edit it in Voice mode. Find the String sound you want to use and Edit it in Voice mode. Then place these two in your Performance.
