Re: PREDICTIONS? Next Best Yamaha Keyboard..?
Nothing of importance will be happening in the keyboard industry for the next 1.5 years. At Summer NAMM 05, Yamaha may release an S100 to replace the S90. They are Motifs without the seqencer, and like the the S90, the S100 will have more sounds and another type of piano thingee. Then everyone here will say their Motif ES’s are a POS because it no longer has the best piano sounds they EVER heard in a SYNTH. Others will cry for a PLG Piano thingee for two years, but by then no one will care. History will repeat itself on this site. Only the posters will have changed.

Interface is not that bad, but could be better. I never understand the need for a performance mode, pattern mode, master mode...The manual could be better

Re: PREDICTIONS? Next Best Yamaha Keyboard..?
I addressed the interface issue only because Nostradamis brought it up. This can be a suggestion for the next Yamaha workstation…

Seems to me the synth industry is running out of things to do.

Re: PREDICTIONS? Next Best Yamaha Keyboard..? You forgot a bigger touchview screen. Seriously, though, the industry has run out of ideas and features, that’s why Korg’s Oaysis has a hard disk recorder in it and big color touchview screen. Who the hell needs a built in recorder? Almost everyone uses a computer. Ditto with sequencer. Who needs it? Well over half the people who buy an Oaysis will be flushing money down the toilet paying for a hard disck recorder and sequencer. Many won’t even use the sampler. |

Re: PREDICTIONS? Next Best Yamaha Keyboard..?
Yammy bought the Cubase gang, so I’d look for a more seamless integration between synth and computer, perhaps with a smarter console arrangement. Maybe a compromise between the ES and Oaysis. They’d be stupid not to exploit that merger.

Re: PREDICTIONS? Next Best Yamaha Keyboard..? All true, but a PC is a PC is a crappy, unstable system with a keyboard built in is a POS. Yawn. |

Re: PREDICTIONS? Next Best Yamaha Keyboard..? I agree with the previous post. Even though Openlabs claims that their Neko is very reliable, I was always skeptical and will always be skeptical of windows or even Mac OS for live performance. So far, there is not a single computer manufacturer that can meet the reliability standard of a hardware brand. Simply put, its Ford trying to catchup with Toyota...it will take forever! |
