Been trying to describe how I program the PLG-VH note by note for some time. There’s nothing like demonstrating the results. The .mp3 is a direct output from the Motif into my little Archos .mp3 recorder, just something I whipped up this afternoon. This is all first takes, with no extra processing or mixing besides the fades

Re: ‘Vocoder’ PLG Harmonizer Demo
Very cool! I’m impressed. The ES is my first keyboard, ever. I’m a guitar player venturing into new territory, so the guitar work on your demo impressed me as much as the over all mix. Questions: 1. Does the VH produce a background “swirl” or “pad” like sound? I was hearing something “blurry” associated with the vocal effect. 2. Do you link/send the VH board thru a particular voice or part, or is it direct with the mic line? I have read that one must “play in key” with the vocals for the VH to work. How would you explain this? 3. Would you be willing to write a brief outline/tutorial on how you produced those demo songs? The performance settings, etc.. I really want to do exactly the kind of thing on your demo. Those songs were in my genre as well. 4. What are your thoughts on the VH board vs. a seperate harmonizer dedicated to vocal effects. I’m just a home hobbyist, won’t be playing “publicly” or professionally, unless you count my friends, family, and neighbors. (I retaliate against their barking dogs with some awsome noise from time to time…

Nice job on the demo, Patchcord. Obviously many forum members are curious. Your demo does a good job of showing what the PLG 100VH can do, and you articulated quite well how you use it.

Re: ‘Vocoder’ PLG Harmonizer Demo Thank you for the demo and response to my questions. I’m still in over my head with the ES, but I want to bury myself deeper and get the VH plg. I really appreciate your efforts and opinions. Except for a few negative cranks, I find this forum and the members to be very helpful and informational. I guess I DO learn things from the cranks, I’m just turned off by their negativity. |

Re: ‘Vocoder’ PLG Harmonizer Demo
I also listened to your demos, and I liked them as well. I think this last post of yours reflects my position. I’m no professional. I rarely play guitar publicly, and that is the instrument I’m good with. The ES is a tremendous intrument that will take me a very long time to become competant with. In the mean time, it’s all about learning and having fun. For the price of the VH, I can’t go wrong--as long as I can figure out how to use it…

>>I understand you use the board to emulate your own voice as good as possible. But I’d like to know (as a possible buyer) how far you can stretch your voice with the use of this board. <<
