Hi, I’m looking for a Yamaha case for the S90, to be bought in Sydney, not shipped or anything crazy like that. I spose I’m hoping for 200 - 400 $. Harder is better. Does anyone know of music stores that sell this? Perhaps I could order one in, through one of these stores. What Yamaha custom cases are there?Australia? Should I be bothering to get a custom, snug case?

It would also be sweet if I could tie my stands to the side of this case, but this has not much to do with the actual case.

Also, a stainless steel shell case would rule, but that is almost certainly at escape velocity leaving the atmosphere of my budget.

hmm.

ie: can you tell me about cases for S90?

Thanks
-Matt

Re: S90 proper case for Real-life purchase in Syd

HI mATT,

a place here in Melbourne called Nova Forge makes cases for all keyboards. the retail stores even get them from them. I once enquired about a hard case for the S90 (they already have all the measurements etc) and they said the cheapest was at about $500, for harder material it was around $500-600 and for a case suitable for air-travel (hardest) they wanted over $600. sad but true.

better hang on to the box your board came in for now!

cheers,
J.

I’m seriously considering having the box the Motif came in fiberglassed - custom made and cheap!  /forums/images/icons/smile.gif alt=

ugh that’ll be terrible to carry.

good idea, however. maybe get a cheap softcase and build a fibreglass shell around that.

The box can only be described as overly cumbersome.

Hi Matt,

I bought a case for my Motif 8 earlier this year from Blue Cat Cases in Brisbane. It was built specifically to the dimensions of the keyboard.  Cost me $374 including delivery to Melbourne. The version I got is ply with that grey carpet stuff covering it. They give you the option of putting wheels in one end, with an extra handle at the opposite end. Certainly helps when moving the thing around.  Seems to be well made. I just checked the website - seems they’ve dropped their prices as well. They also make the aluminium covered cases you mentioned. Checkout the website (http://www.cases.com.au) it has all the details including pricing. Hope that helps.

Steve

Hey, I just found this on E-Bay (Brisbane) - looks great, the top-notch freight case (yes, “like the ones the pros use!") for under $500! (RRP is supposedly $976)

says; “You nominate your brand/model of 88 Note portable keyboard & we’ll make a PERFECT FIT, ATA specification, tour quality keyboard case.”

seriously considering this but am going to read carefully the small print first to make sure what I get is actually what’s shown in the pic!

Re: S90 proper case for Real-life purchase in Syd

oohh, sources… thanks.

Yup the second half of your post is the Blue Cat cases that Steve mentioned. So I think this is The place.

Fortress cases look more general purpose, less specific for musical instruments.

Nova Forge look great, too.

Re: S90 proper case for Real-life purchase in Syd

I’m getting closer to ordering a hardcase, from Bluecat, but I think I can’t handle the cost ~$550. anyone know about gig bags in Aus? Bluecat seems to have them for $57 or something. The SMart one seems to be ~$200 Aus.
