If you’re a MOTIF owner and a guitar player it’s time to tap into your full creative potential with a product that has been around awhile and you might not even known it existed. Let me introduce you, perhaps for the first time, to the Yamaha G50 MIDI Guitar Converter. It will open up a new world of expressive musical possibilities.

I myself a guitar player get asked often from many other guitar players…”Why doesn’t anyone make a really good Guitar/MIDI converter?” Well, I’m here to let you know, Yamaha does!

  • Exceptionally fast tracking of pitch to MIDI conversion & incredible responsiveness.
  • You can play your speedy lead licks & even intricate finger picking - the G50 will track it all.
  • Tracks notes, pitch, picking, position, string bends (yes, string bends), & envelope.
  • You can also assign a different voice on each string. Try that with just a regular guitar!

G1D/B1D MIDI Guitar/Bass Pickup
Along with the G50 MIDI Converter you’ll need for your instrument, the G1D - MIDI Guitar Pickup, or the B1D - MIDI Bass Pickup (sold separately). Either pickup is easy to setup, with a number of different ways you can mount it to your instrument. Using the provided suction cups, double-sided tape, or for those of you who are really committed, you can the provided screws to permanently install it onto your guitar.
The G/B1D will let you use the tone-generators sounds, your guitar sound, or a mix of both, via a switch on the front on the pickup. There are also +/- selection buttons to scroll through different patches during live play, as well as a handy volume control.

Wielding the Power of Advanced Features

  • String Split Mode: Imagine the ability in live performance to have an upright bass sound on your low strings (5 & 6), and have a piano sound on the other strings (1-4). You can do that with the G50’s intuitive “String Split Mode”.
  • Real-time Control Picking Position Split: Wait, it absolutely gets deeper with “Real-time Control Picking Position Split”. You can set a split point based on the proximity to the G/B1D pickup. Play a different voice on each side of the split. A source of endless playing possibilities.
  • Neural Net Technology: Created out the Neutral Net System technology, the converter can “learn” your style. So through advanced tracking you can essentially “teach the machine” how you play, for the best possible tracking response.

The MOTIF Factor -
Add the power of MOTIF to your Guitar playing!
Using the G50 with a Motif or Motif ES will compliment the advanced articulations found in many of the sounds of the Motif series. Also, for convenience and portability, adding a G50 in with a MOTIF-RACK would create the perfect marriage for live performance. Whether it’s playing voices, or using Performances and triggering arpeggiations with a strike of the guitar strings, these two make an awesome combination. As a matter of fact, many of the arpeggiations you hear on the Motif Series keyboards were made using the G50 with a G1D.

Motif-Rack Features

  • Same great quality sounds as original Motif series keyboards
  • 2 Plug-in slots to expand your synthesis options
  • Awesome Motif effects w/ newly designed reverb algorithm, 4 insert effects, and 3-band EQ
